ADILAH DOLAIANO WINS PAN PACIFIC CBA WORLDVIEW DOCUMENTARY DEVELOPMENT AWARD

Adilah Dolaiano, head of Sukwadi Media, and director of upcoming documentary THE TEST is one of two winners of the award, along with Renagi Taukarai from Papua New Guinea. Watch Adilah talking about recieving this award: http://www.youtube.com/sukwadimedia

THE TEST is the story of a boy who paddles a canoe out to sea to fish tuna in a test for himself and future of a community. The film will be produced by director and cameraman Adilah Dolaiano, producer and screenwriter Anouk Ride Dolaiano and researcher and writer Julian Maka’a.

Pacific journalists are producing more stories and more in-depth stories on tuna thanks to a PEW/PNA “Communicating Tuna” workshop coordinated by Anouk Ride. 10 journalists, nominated by their managers, came to Honiara and Noro in Solomon Islands as part of the week-long workshop to be briefed on topical tuna management and development issues. A paper by Morgan Brigg, Volke Boege and Anouk Ride was completed entitled ”Working with Local Strengths: Supporting States and Interveners to institutionalise the Responsibility to Protect, Solomon Islands Framework of Engagement”.  The report looks specifically at how local strengths (chiefs, church leaders, women and youth representatives who deal with local peace and order issues) can link up … Read more →

A paper by Morgan Brigg, Volke Boege and Anouk Ride was completed entitled ”Working with Local Strengths: Supporting States and Interveners to institutionalise the Responsibility to Protect, Solomon Islands Framework of Engagement”.  The report looks specifically at how local strengths (chiefs, church leaders, women and youth representatives who deal with local peace and order issues) can link up with government services, police, aid agencies and the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands for peace and order in communities. Findings are based on field research in selection locations in Isabel, Malaita and Guadalcanal provinces and a workshop on which the key findings were drafted collectively with community representatives. The report and framework for working with local strengths was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister in Honiara 22 June 2011. Research was funded by the Asia-Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect.
