Family Violence Research

The Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs in Solomon Islands has led the way in commissioning and being actively involved in research to better understand violence against women and girls, and how services, awareness and other interventions can prevent and stop violence. Stretim: Attitudes and Communication About Violence Against Women and Girls details what messages work in the Solomon context to stop violence based on social marketing research in rural and urban communities. Women’s Experiences of Family Violence Services in Solomon Islands examines women’s stories of using services in order to make recommendations for service delivery, gaps and reforms across the set of services provided under the Family Protection Act (including police, courts, refuges, counselling and health services).
